We provide regular low-cost lunches in various villages in the local area as well as our popular coffee morning. Come and meet or make friends and treat yourself to a nutritious freshly cooked meal.
One of the most common issues with living in a rural community is loneliness, especially for those who find it difficult to leave the house. Blackdown Support Group has volunteers who visit people in their homes, perhaps make a cup of tea, do a crossword or a game or just call regularly to talk and share stories. It is often all that is needed.
We are also a provider of Time for You, a sitting service funded by Devon County Council which involves a volunteer sitting with an elderly or infirm client to enable their carer to take a break.
The Hemyock Lunch Club meets at 12.30pm on the 1st Wednesday of every month at the Blackdown Healthy Living and Activity Centre, Riverside, Hemyock.
We cater for clients who are resident in the Hemyock area and provide a subsidised 2-course meal plus tea or coffee, all produced by our dedicated team of volunteers.
The Culmstock lunch club meets at 12.30pm on the last Wednesday of every month at the Strand Stores, where the team kindly provide a wholesome 2 course lunch plus tea or coffee.
Catering for clients who are resident in the Culmstock area, we are generously supported by the Culmstock Allotment Society.
We meet at 10.30am until 11.30am on the 3rd Wednesday of every month at the Throgmorton Hall in Dunkeswell, and offer tea, coffee and biscuits with a popular raffle and the opportunity to meet with friends old and new.
Dunkeswell Lunch Club, every second Tuesday of the month, 12.30pm - 2.30pm at the Throgmorton Hall, Dunkeswell. We will cater for residents of the Dunkeswell area, lunch will be freshly cooked and served by our team of dedicated volunteers.
The Rosemary Lane Lunch Club meets at 12.30pm on the 2nd Wednesday of every month at Rosemary Lane.
We cater for clients who are resident in the Rosemary Lane and Clayhidon area and provide a subsidised 2-course meal plus tea or coffee, all produced by our dear friends at the Chapel.
The Churchinford Lunch Club meets every last Tuesday at the York Inn at 12.30pm, Churchinford where the team there provide a delicious two course lunch followed by tea and coffee.
